Queensland is fortunate to retain many of Australia's last wild rivers. Free of dams and the typical pollution from intensive agriculture, these free-flowing rivers must be protected for future generations.
Thanks to your support, nine spectacular river basins are now protected under Queensland's groundbreaking Wild Rivers legislation and 20 of 100 Indigenous Wild River Rangers promised by the Government are now employed.
A draft protection proposal for the mighty Wenlock River in central Cape York was released in
December 2008 by the Queensland Government. With powerful mining interests standing in the way,
we now need a huge response from the public to make sure the Government follows through with the plan.
Please take action now to protect the Wenlock River by signing our cyberaction.
Let's keep up the pressure on the Queensland Government to deliver on their commitment to protect our wild rivers!
