Help us protect Cape York Peninsula's Wild Rivers!

by John last modified 2008-12-15 10:10

Cape York Peninsula in far north Queensland is one of the last great wild places on Earth. But its wild rivers are unprotected.

Thanks to your support, a draft protection proposal for the mighty Wenlock River in central Cape York was released on December 10 2008 by the Queensland Government. With powerful mining interests standing in the way, we now need a huge response from the public to make sure the Government follows through with the plan.

The Wenlock protection proposal now joins the the Archer, Stewart and Lockhart River protection proposals on Cape York, also being considered by the Queensland Government.

Stay tuned to this website for all the latest news and actions - we will be creating a new Wenlock River cyberaction in early January.

Let's keep up the pressure on the Queensland Government to deliver on their commitment to protect the wild rivers of Cape York Peninsula!
